Getting Started
How do I create my first project?
To create your first project, click the Projects tab in the top navigation, then click the + New Project button. Fill in the project name, select a template if needed, invite team members, and click Create. Your project will be ready immediately with a default task list and timeline view.
How do I invite team members to MDX Space?
Go to Team and click Invite Member. Enter the email address, choose the access level that fits their work (Admin, PM, Talent, Team, Accountant, Client, or Guest), and send the invite. They will receive a join link and pending invites can be managed from the Team section.
Can I import data from other project management tools?
Not yet as a self-serve feature. Native imports from tools like Asana, Trello, or Monday are not currently available in the product. For now, projects and tasks should be created directly in MDX Space, or migrated manually with support if you need help cleaning a CSV first.
Projects & Tasks
How do I set task dependencies?
Open any task by clicking on it, then scroll to the Dependencies section in the task detail panel. Click Add Dependency and search for the task that must be completed first. Dependencies are also visualized in the Timeline view, where you'll see connecting lines between dependent tasks.
How do I track time spent on tasks?
Open a task and click the Start Timer button to begin tracking. The timer runs in the background even if you navigate away. Click Stop when done. You can also log time manually by entering hours and minutes directly. Time logs are visible in task details and included in project reports.
Can I set recurring tasks?
Yes. When creating or editing a task, click on the Recurrence option and choose a frequency: daily, weekly, monthly, or custom. Recurring tasks automatically generate a new instance when the current one is completed. All recurring tasks are visible in the Calendar view with a recurrence indicator.
Team Management
What are the different team member roles?
MDX Space supports several roles: Admin, PM, Talent, Team, Accountant, Client, and Guest. Internal roles manage operations at different levels, while Client and Guest are used for external-facing access with a narrower portal experience.
How do I remove a team member from the workspace?
Go to Team, find the member you want to remove, and click the three-dot menu next to their name. Select Remove from Workspace. They will lose access immediately. Any tasks assigned to them will remain but show as unassigned. You can reassign these tasks from the project task list before or after removal.
Can I set project-level permissions for specific members?
Yes. Open the project and use the Share page to add or remove existing workspace members from that project. The shared project link only works for users who already have an MDX Space account and project access. Public no-login project links are not available yet.
Billing & Plans
How do I upgrade or change my plan?
Admins can review the current workspace plan, usage, and billing contact details in Settings → Plan & Billing. Automated self-serve upgrades and downgrades are not fully live yet, so the page reflects the current plan data and the current request workflow instead of instant prorated plan switches.
How do I download my invoices?
Workspace billing invoices are listed in Settings → Plan & Billing. Operational invoices and receipts also appear in the finance sections of the app depending on your role. Availability depends on permissions, so admins and finance users will typically see the most billing history.
What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
There is no fully automated subscription-cancellation flow in the product yet. Use Settings → Plan & Billing to review your workspace plan and contact support for plan-change or closure requests. Data-retention and closure steps should be confirmed with the MDX team during that process instead of assuming automatic archiving or deletion rules.
